Short Films
This following section showcases a bunch of short film projects that I have worked on.
"Binar Renjana" (2023)
Role: Offline Editor
Not my most recent, but the most ambitious film editing project so far. Binar Renjana tells the story of Chandra, an inmate. He and his cellmates must break free to attend his daughter’s wedding and before his execution day. With its very ambitious nature and it being done within a very short space of time, this project provided me with a set of challenges.
Highlights from the film.
For example, this film gave me the first chance in editing a choreographed action fight sequence; but the shots taken were very limited and has plenty of continuity and flow issues. As a result, this involved the director and me to really problem solve in order to make a final product that’s nice to watch. All in all, With over 200 shots to juggle, this film proves to be quite tough to edit. But in the end, the experience was very rewarding and I learned a lot editing it.
"The Life & Death of 9413" (2024)
Role: Offline/Online Editor
A project made for experimental film production class. This film’s actually a remake of an old silent film with the same name. The original version tells the story of an aspiring Hollywood actor that keeps getting cast as an extra. At the end, he ultimately ends his own life. In my version however, the reason why he never succeeds is because all of the casting directors he auditioned for kept getting their heads blown off mysteriously.

This film is fully directed and edited by me. Stylistically, I'm going for a mood that mimics the silent films from the original film’s time. Which means, the 4:3 aspect ratio, dark empty backgrounds and black & white look is intentional to achieve this. A key element of the original film is repetition. I want to evoke that feeling by reusing several shots and setups; in order to show the frustration the character goes through by having to deal with the same thing repeatedly.
Additionally, here's a head explosion effect that was scrapped due to it being too "gruesome".

"Kesepian" (2021)
Role: Director, Videographer, Writer & Offline/Online Editor
A project made for "Moving Image Storytelling" class. A tale of loneliness told through the lens of an old elderly widow and her daily routines. This film is fully directed, shot & edited by me. With this project, I really want to convey a feeling of sadness and loneliness, which results in the slow editing and bittersweet choice of music.

"#instadeath" (2019)
Role: Videographer & Offline/Online Editor
A short film I made when I was in the ninth grade. “#instadeath” is a short horror film that tells the story of an arrogant social media influencer who is stalked by a serial killer through Instagram. Below is the trailer for the film, which captures the creepy and tense mood of the film.

"Apa Itu Sumpah Pemuda?" (2018)
Role: Director, Videographer, Writer & Offline/Online Editor
My first ever short film. This project tells the story of a lazy student who’s in danger of failing a class. A ghost from the past helps him out so that he can ace his final exam.

Looking back, it is a very rough production but it’s full of fun ideas that can be executed better now. Personally, I love the idea of a ghost helping out with a student’s exam and the comedic potential it brings. Such as the explosion while he’s playing a video game, and the portal arrival to the past.
